First ‘Cloud Atlas’ stills released

The upcoming Cloud Atlas is co-written and directed by The Matrix’s Andy and Lana Wachowski and Run Lola Run’s Tom Tykwer. It is adapted from David Mitchell’s 2004 novel of the same name, and features the main actors playing multiple roles.

The film follows several plots including a sci-fi chapter of a man (Hanks) who meets an emissary (Berry) from an advance society.

Jim Broadbent and Skyfall’s Ben Whishaw also appear in a photo from their story about a composer and his apprentice.

Altogether the film will feature six connected stories that span from 1930s Belgium to a distant North Korea. Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, Keith David, James D’Arcy and Jim Sturgess will also star.

Cloud Atlas will be released in the US on October 26. It will hit cinemas in the UK, Spain, France, Japan and Australia in early 2013.
